Works of Sri Purandara Dasar

Sri Purandara Dasar has composed many VAIRAGYA SONGS. In his composition DASANAMADIGO ENNA , says , "singing the praise of lord is the one and only happiness he can get throughout his live. He says he has the BHAGYA to sing and compose.Again in the song HARI SMARANEY MADO NIRANTHARA ,he says one should cultivate the habit of singing the hari bhajanas and get the happiness.So also he has sung many more songs which has touched the ordinary laymans mind like NEYEY ANADA BANDHU,RAGEE THANDEERA BIKSHAGEY RAGEE THANDEERA,APARADEE NANALLA,INNU DAYA BARADEY,DARIYAUDAIYA,NAMBI KETTAVARILLAVO.ETC.In his INNU DAYABARADEY he says he has left all the pleasures of life and fallen under the feet of hari.NAMU, NANADU EMBA, NARAGADOLAGEY BITTU, I MYSELF all this is NARAKA,and i have left this naraka and NEENEY GATHI ENDU NAMBIDHA DASANA MELEY, INUU DAYABARADEY.He is asking hari that even after leaving this materialistic world why HARI is not having mercy on him.Many of his songs are popularised by M.L.V., T.K Govindarao, M.S. Sbbalakshmi and many popular musicians.In his composition, KELANO HARI THALANO ,he says THALAMELAGALTDHU PREMA ILLADA GANA is no music. A music should have THALAM (that is a RYHTHM)andBHAKTHI.In one of the charanas he says THUMBURU NARADARU,GANAKELUVAHARI,NAMBALARA E DAMBADA KUGATA. He says we cannot enjoy the music a person who just sings at the top of his voice ( DAMBADA KOOGATA )just to attract the public but who has no bhakthi or thala in his music.
