Sri Purandaradasar is known as "PITHMAHAR," that is father of karnatik music.He was born in the year 1484, in Hampi asmall village near Bellari in Karnataka.His composotions are called ,"DEVARANAMAS."SRI VIJAYA VTTALADASAR, has stated in his composition,"GURU PURANDARA DASAREY NINNA CHARANAKAMALAVE NAMBITHEY;about the greatness of Sri Purandara DASAR.
NARADAM,NADALOOLAM, THAM AVADHEERNANCHA,MAHEETHALEY, PURANDARA GURUM VANDEY,BHAKTHANAAM, MARGA DARSHINAM.It is believed that Sri Purandara Dasar was the avathar of Naradar and he was born to propogate Lord Krishnas glory.
The original name of Sri Purandara Dasar was Srinivasan, who was a gold merchant and he had no time to think about Lord Krishna, because his mind was only bent on minting monry and become a multy millionaire. Thus he became amulty millionaire and was callled as NAVAKOTI NARAYANAN.He was a miser and he had no mind to do DHANA-DHARMA.His wife was unlike him and she prayed to god and did puja. She was very sorry to see her husband who was not doing any puja.She was praying to god to change her husbands mental attitudu.
