I learnt music from Shri. A. Ananthakrishna Iyer and later from his son, Shri. A. Anantharaman of Sri Guru Guha Gana Vidyalaya, Kolkata. After marriage-since 1960-I have settled in Srirangam, Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Here, I learnt music from Shri. Thenkaasi Muthuswami, Shri. Sheranmadevi Somayajulu and Shri. J. Venkataraman. I have also specialised in thala with the help of Shri. Mannargudi A. Eashwaran(a leading mridangist), which has helped me a lot in singing Kalpana Swaras and Pallavis. I have delivered many concerts throughout India and thoroughly enjoyed my experiences in places like New Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Nagpur, Bhilai, Bhopal, Vijayanagaram, Tirupati, Mysore, Bangalore, Trivandrum, etc.. I worked as a Music Instructress at Rasika Ranjana Sabha, Trichy for 25 years. After that, I worked in Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Trichy for two years as a Visiting Professor for MA Music. For the past 40 years, I have also been running a Music School of my own named Sri Guru Guha Gana Vidyalaya, where I have been training many students for Lower and Higher Grade Government Technical Exams in Music. My Vidyalaya students and I have recently released two CDs, the first being the Guru Guha Gana Mala, constituting sixteen English Notes composed by Sri Muthuswami Dikshithar and the second being the Saptha Prakara Ganamritham, which was produced by Shri. Aramutha Raman, who also wrote the lyrics of the seven songs sung in praise of Lord Ranganathar.Recently, I have released another CD -
"Guru Guha Gana Mala-2",which has ten rare songs of Muthuswami Dikshithar.
